Loving People through acts of Servant Leadership in My Community

Humility is the key to great leadership. We have to get our of our own way and raise others so that we might succeed.

As a student of leadership and through constantly observing and learning I came across TED. I hoped to bring it to my community one day as it is the best platform with a high value brand to share ideas. My experience with the ideas are they are mostly positive which is different from most media and messages with a high profile. I had a sudden stroke at the age of 32 years old. I was already the father of two and had been married for more than 10 years. Through that recovery I continued to observe the world around me and as I gained my strength and focus back on my goal-oriented lifestyle I began to seriously think about the impact I might have on those around me. I want to have influence, which is different than power, but they have similar qualities. I woke up in the middle of the night one day in 2018, maybe 3am and decided to apply to organize my first TEDx event. The journey has been long, but I am encouraged each time I watch a talk or hear an idea that might make a major impact on my community. I am doing my best to share those ideas with those that I have influence in my community so that these ideas might gain some traction. TEDxMidland will have its second event in February 2022 focused on ideas around collaboration.
