I am a 22 year old student pursuing my MBA from MICA, Ahmedabad, India. I have a background in Mass Media with specialisation in Advertising.

I come from a community where women's education generally takes a backseat and traditional gender norms are stringently followed. However, this wasn't the case with my family, and I am extremely thankful for my parents for motivating me to work hard and get independent in order to support myself. Growing up, I had the privilege of going to the top schools, tuitions, signing up for classes for all my hobbies, and following my interests. I never had to beg my parents to educate myself, if anything, they constantly pushed me to pursue all my dreams. However, I recognise that not everyone around me in my community has this privilege. My mother, for instance, was compelled to give up education to marry and settle down. The sad reality is that till this date, many young women in my community are not encouraged to stand on their own feet, rather, they are trained to be obedient wives and mothers; they are not exposed to the same opportunities as I was. One core motivator for me is to uplift this community of mine. I am incredibly passionate about giving voices to these women, and letting them know that they have every right to pursue their dreams. I want to change the outdated narrative that women are born to serve others. Through my growth and my career trajectory, pompous as it may sound, I want these women to be inspired and start challenging these traditional binders. I aim to build a peer mentor-mentee network for young women in my community to rely upon one another for guidance and motivation, where they can come to with any doubts about education or work opportunities. I want to give them a platform to shine, and this is something I'm truly passionate about.
