Bio
Allan Hayes went from Heywood Grammar School, Lancashire, to Trinity College Cambridge in 1953 to read Mathematics (BA 1956, PhD 1960). After an career in Mathematics (MIT, Purdue and Leicester Universities) and the application of computers to Mathematics (training and writing for the Mathematica software system) most of his time in now devoted to community relations in his home city of Leicester - one of the most diverse cities in Europe.
He is convinced that improving awareness, communication and interaction, and the introduction of new ideas, are vital not only for community relations, but also for the development and success of all aspects of the city, and that TEDx events can play a big part in this.
He was elected to a fellowship of the Royal Society of Arts (RSA) in 2010.
