Bio

Larry Irvin is the founder of Brothers Empowered to Teach (BE2T), a non-profit organization dedicated to increasing the representation of Black male educators in public schools. Through innovative programming, mentorship, and paid fellowships, BE2T has successfully placed 174 men in classrooms in New Orleans and Baton Rouge. The organization's approach includes character development, masculinity discussions, and professional skills training to create well-rounded educators. BE2T's work has been recognized and supported by initiatives like the Jrue & Lauren Social Impact Fund, and the organization actively engages with young Black men through events like the Universities of Louisiana Black Male Summit. By empowering Black men to become impactful educators and role models, BE2T is making significant strides in addressing the under-representation of men of color in the teaching profession and fostering a more diverse and inclusive educational environment.

Things you might not know

Facilitation of dialogues and deep conversations. I've never had formal training but Ive been blessed with an uncanny ability to feel and see people, figuratively speaking. I have a way of making folks feel really comfortable about their own shortcomings without feeling judge in the moment or scrutinized. A true empath and guiding hand for difficult discourse.
