Jennifer Golbeck

Jennifer Golbeck is an expert on social media, big data, online privacy, and the web. She is Director of the Human-Computer Interaction Lab and an Associate Professor in the College of Information Studies at the University of Maryland, College Park. Golbeck is a leader in research on how people use and interact online, and in developing artificial intelligence that builds new insights about social media users. Dr. Golbeck has published over 100 academic articles and several books about trust, social networks, and the web. She is a frequent guest on NPR and talk radio, and a guest host on the Kojo Nnamdi show on Washington DC's NPR affiliate WAMU. She is a regular contributor at Slate magazine and has spoken at TEDxGeorgetown and TEDxMidatlantic. She received an AB in Economics and an SB and SM in Computer Science at the University of Chicago, and a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Maryland, College Park.
