Laura Lee Brown

Laura Lee Brown is an owner and co-manager of Woodland Farm in Goshen, Kentucky. She devotes her time and talent to serving the community through business, civic, and charitable organizations. She is a former director of the Lenox China Board. She was a founder of the Commonwealth Bank and Trust Company and has served on the boards of Actors Theatre of Louisville, the Louisville Orchestra, Fund for the Arts, and the J.B. Speed Art Museum. She has also served on advisory committees for Planned Parenthood and the Healing Place. She is a past member of the Junior League of Louisville and serves on the Sutherland Foundation Board. She is also an honorary trustee of Riverfields and of Bluegrass Conservancy, conservation organizations dedicated to preserving natural areas along the Ohio River in the Louisville area. Laura Lee graduated from Sweet Briar College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in French, and she has also attended the University of Louisville. Aside from her business and civic responsibilities, she has interests in painting, photography, gardening, traveling, and preserving land. In March 2006, she and her husband, Steve Wilson, completed 21c Museum Hotel, an historic rehabilitation and urban revitalization project in downtown Louisville. The KY Society of Architects (AIA Kentucky) presented Steve & Laura Lee their 2005 award for outstanding service to the KY Society of Architects and the profession of architecture in Kentucky. They also won the John Russell Groves Laureate Award. They are staunch protectors of Kentucky’s rural landscape and they provided many years of leadership and financial support for programs and projects that have promoted the cultural and intellectual promise of Louisville’s downtown as well as its citizens.
