Bio
Jill has spent over 20 years in technology with the majority of the time at Microsoft. Her time there strengthened her executive leadership experience as Chief of Staff to the CMO; opened opportunities to work in developing markets through incubation Product Marketing, and expanded her capabilities in media and CRM marketing most recently as the Director of Consumer Media. She loves meaningful challenges, and is best known for establishing new businesses or bringing order to ones that need creative organization and leadership.
Technology is fascinating, but it’s the people of Microsoft that have driven Jill's tenure at the company. They have diverse minds, they challenge one another and the complacencies of life, and they are curious, creative and think big. As a result, Jill's passion for leading teams has inspired her role in mentoring and building networks.
Outside of her corporate life she invests time in philanthropic work focused on women and girls development, specifically through her role on the board of the Seattle Girls School. She and her husband also love film and created Dialogue Pictures, a film and live entertainment company focused on sparking dialogue. It’s a passion-based business to explore stories that need to be told either through film or on a stage.
In 2010, they produced To Be Heard, a documentary about how self-expression and arts programs that have the potential to help under-privileged kids break the cycle of poverty. The film won several awards at multiple film festivals including DocNYC and Seattle International Film Festival.
Together, they continue to be very involved in supporting the Seattle Film Festival through fundraising, production support, Board and Society Membership, and marketing consultancy.

An idea worth spreading
"Remember who you are" is the departing comment my dad always said before I walked out the door for an evening out or a trip with friends. I didn't know what it truly meant until I reached my young professional years where my sense of self and identity were challenged. We're all at our best when we're being ourselves. It seems so fundamental, but do people really know what it means? If people had a grasp on their true selves and what's good for them, we'd have less divorce, less burnt-out corp types, less substance abuse...

The TED story
I attended TED 2014 and it was an incredible experience. This week is my first time at TED Women. I'm excited to be surrounded by like-minded women...and also seeing the diversity of women that are changing the world in which they live. There's an energy women get from other women, and I'm looking forward to being energized within the TED Women community as I seek my "Chapter 2".
