Bio
Hi my name is Jeanelle Mencias! I was born and raised in the beautiful little country of Belize, which is located snug between Mexico and Guatemala. It is the only Central American country with English as its first language and is uniquely also considered a Caribbean country. It is a tiny country full of culture and history. I am nerd at heart with an associates in the sciences - Math, Bio and Physics - and a bachelor's degree in Environmental Science from the University of South Florida. Go Bulls! Interestingly enough, I have discovered a new love and passion for writing and now I am an information officer with the Government of Belize Press Office. I am a professed workaholic ... because really, who needs to rest?! I do. :) ... When I'm not working, I enjoy indulging in a good book, exploring new places and cultures, bobbing my head to some good music or just enjoying good conversation and company with family and friends. Oh, and did I mention I love food? Yes, I love it! I also enjoy working with youths and serving my community. I believe that every day is a chance to learn and do something new!
I'm passionate about
I am passionate about life and learning and community development, youth empowerment, education and literacy, leadership, art, photography, music, culture and travel.
An idea worth spreading
“Until the philosophy which holds one race superior and another inferior is finally and permanently discredited and abandoned, everywhere is war and until there are no longer first-class and second-class citizens of any nation, until the color of a man's skin is of no more significance than the color of his eyes. And until the basic human rights are equally guaranteed to all without regard to race, there is war. And until that day, the dream of lasting peace, world citizenship, rule of international morality, will remain but a fleeting illusion to be pursued, but never attained... now everywhere is war.” --- Emperor Haile Selassie I
