Bio

I am a native Californian who believes everyone I meet has something to teach me. I graduated from California State University, Long Beach with a BA in Speech Education. After receiving my teaching credential from CSULB, returned three years later for graduate school and received my MA in English Literature (American Literature). This is my 21st year teaching at the same high school, though I have taught many different subjects in that time. I have always been an English teacher and have taught everything from "regular" English to Honors and AP and classes for English Learners. I am the first teacher in my district to offer a fully-online English class to high school students. It is my sixth year teaching online English to juniors at my school. In addition, I teach speech and a hybrid World History/sophomore English class with another teacher. I love the creativity involved in the online setting and have a knack for incorporating technology into my face-to-face classes through our LMS. My favorite class to teach is Speech. I love hearing and learning from my students. Lastly, this is my third year facilitating a TED-Ed Club at my school. This program has given my students a platform to have their voices heard and I love it! Outside of work I enjoy traveling with my husband and son, reading, cooking, going to the beach, and learning new things! I know how to brew beer, but would like to learn how to play the guitar, weld, blow glass, and bake a perfect loaf of sourdough bread.
