Amir Akhavan is a Managing Director at JEGI, a leading technology and media investment bank founded in 1987. He advises tech, marketing services, interactive and information companies in mergers, acquisitions, divestitures and capital raises. He is known for delivering high-value strategic advice to entrepreneurs, PE firms, VCs and strategics as they evaluate and seek to stay at the forefront of rapidly changing markets. Notable transactions include: * Group SJR in a sale to WPP; * Domino Media in a capital raise led by Conde Nast and Advance; * InfoGroup's OneSource in a sale to GTCR; * Conversen in a sale to Experian; * The Retail Equation in a sale to NVP; * Big Fuel in a sale to Publicis; * iBehavior in a sale to WPP; * aCerno in a sale to Akamai; * M:Metrics in a sale to comScore; and * Klipmart in a sale to DoubleClick (nka Google). Amir is especially passionate about working with entrepreneurs, as they develop market disrupting businesses. His domain expertise extends to social media and technology across the marketing stack, as he recently wrote "The Social Media Ecosystem - Rise of Users, Intelligence and Operating Systems", published by the Interactive Advertising Bureau. Amir is also a member of JEGI Capital, the firms PE fund - successful exits have included Aprimo (acquired by Teradata) and iBehavior (acquired by WPP). Prior to joining JEGI in 2005, he was at Deloitte Corporate Finance in the media M&A investment banking group and also worked with Deloitte Consulting on strategy engagements. Previously, Amir worked in EY's Assurance and Advisory practice focusing on Tech, Media and Telecom. Amir earned his Master's from the University of Virginia as an Ernst & Young YMP scholar and his Bachelors in Corporate Finance from the University of Southern California (USC). He is a member of the USC Board of Governors and a Big Brothers Big Sisters of New York mentor.
