Bio

Laura Baxter-Simons, along with her husband Nat, is co-director of Sea Change Foundation, a private family foundation dedicated to addressing global climate change. Founded in 2006, Sea Change is currently working to address the serious threats posed by global climate change and primarily focuses on climate change mitigation and clean energy policy. Laura and Nat are signatories of the Giving Pledge. In 2009, Laura and Nat co-founded Prelude Ventures, an early-stage climate tech investment group which focuses on emerging companies poised to speed the transition to a low-carbon economy. Prelude works closely with other venture funds and family offices active in climate tech. Prelude is a member of the Breakthrough Energy Coalition. Laura is General Counsel of Meritage Group LP, an investment management firm. She has a B.A. from U.C. Berkeley in Economics and German, an M.A. from U.C. Berkeley in German Literature, and a J.D. from Stanford Law School. Laura currently serves as a member of the U.C. Berkeley College of Letters and Science Advisory Board, the U.C. Berkeley National Campaign Steering Committee, and the Stanford Law School Dean’s Advisory Council. Laura lives in Berkeley, CA and has two children.
