I am in my ninth year teaching kindergarten. My main job is to educate my students by providing content that meets their individual strengths and needs. Especially in my current position as a kindergarten teacher, I feel that I address a multitude of subjects, academic and not. Social Emotional Learning has always been a huge part of kindergarten, but it is more important than ever with our current lack of face-to-face interaction and connection. I am also on my school's leadership team, have been a district Tech Lead for three years and am now in an Equity Training Cohort. My personal hobbies include drawing and creating, exercising, listening to music, homebrewing, and cooking. I love taking classes and learning new skills. I have a twin brother who is my best friend and a huge part of who I am. I also have many pets including an australian shepard-poodle, two chinchillas, and four chickens.

Teaching students to be creative thinkers and problem finders and solvers. Respect, empathy and compassion. Meaningful happiness. Collaboration. Fun energy! Beauty in nature and art. Creating everyday. Learning everyday. Being grateful everyday.

You don’t need to have walked in someone’s shoes to show compassion. Actually, those that haven’t can lean in with curiosity and inquiry and not try to fix, but rather to just be present and validate. This proves, we already have what we need to act with compassion and to activate others to act with compassion.

Homebrewing beer! My husband and I brew and I am a former president of our homebrew club. I love learning about the characteristics and origins of beer styles, recipe formulation, and of course tasting beers too.
