An idea worth spreading

Clinical Depression - Is the cause, the cure? This is an idea that I am personally very passionate about and would like to see more research conducted into. Essentially what it means is 'When a patient comes in with 'depression', and the doctor just prescribes antidepressants and kicks them out, is depression created?' We know that drugs with antidepressant properties (like Cannabis, Cocaine, etc) can have addictive effects that, when severe enough, make the user feel down when they haven't had their drug. So if someone who is going through a rough point in their life visits a doctor, gets told they are depressed (when really they are experiencing a normal grief reaction), and gets put on antidepressants, after a time they could become genuinely depressed because their happiness becomes dependent on a pill. Just an idea worth thinking about considering the growing depression epidemic.
