Trimanus Medical Limited, Vancouver Canada 1998 to present; Founder and President Trimanus Medical Limited provides technical consulting in support of the development of limb positioning systems for use in orthopaedic surgery. These limb positioning systems are commercialized by Tenet Medical Limited of Calgary Alberta under the product name ‘Spider’. MDS AutoMed Corporation, Richmond, B.C. Canada 1993 - 1997 Vice President, Product Development AutoMed Corporation was incorporated in 1993 to consolidate the clinical laboratory automation technologies of Andronic Devices Ltd. of Richmond Canada with those of AutoMed Inc. of Arden Hills, Minnesota. In 1997, AutoMed Corporation was purchased by MDS Inc., one of Canada's largest health care organizations. AutoMed developed a number of laboratory automation products for sorting, centrifugation and aliquotting of blood samples. AutoMed products are in use in several MDS laboratories in Canada and the US. Andronic Devices Ltd, Richmond, B.C. Canada 1984 - 1988 Senior Engineer 1988 - 1990 Vice President, Engineering and Manufacturing 1990 - 1993 Vice President, Product Development Andronic Devices Ltd. was incorporated in 1984 to develop products incorporating robotics technology into surgery and clinical chemistry. The company began with a staff of four and initially operated from a laboratory at Vancouver General Hospital. Some projects of note include development of the worlds first robotic system for orthopedic surgery, various surgical positioning and retraction systems and accessory products for laparoscopic and knee replacement surgery. Biomedical Engineering, Vancouver General Hospital, Vancouver, B.C. 1981 - 1984 Clinical / Project Engineer In addition to clinical engineering duties while employed at VGH, I was involved in a number of development projects. These included an advanced surgical tourniquet (ultimately marketed by Zimmer), the design of improved pneumatic tourniquet cuffs, the development of an improved anaesthesia disconnect monitor and the writing of software for an equipment maintenance control program.
