Bio

I'm fascinated by human culture. I love that I get to live in an age where all of the worlds ideas, information, history, locations and culture are within my grasp to explore and examine. I'm humbled by the realization that even at our human best, we so often prove to be just inches away from our animal roots. Humanity may be a mile wide, but it's just an inch high most of the time and so very fragile and rare are the heights. I love to be around people who resist falling into the standard mold. I'm an Agnostic, but I try to live like a good Buddhist. I listen to techno, but I also love classical and most everything in between. I read mostly non-fiction, but I appreciate Garrison Keillor and other writers who know how to spin a tale. I often wish I was an artist, but I have no manual dexterity. I wish I was a musician, but I can't play and instrument or hold a tune. Lacking these traditional creative skills, I've come to view all things in life as just different mediums of artistic expression. And this has kept me interested, challenged, and amused so far. I've found that the less I think I know, the more I tend to learn. I am way too busy and need more time to play. Unfortunately what I consider play always makes me busy. I have a million projects going on and a million more I wish I had time to do. I have a 120 year plan; ask me about it sometime. Always know that if you jump naked into the pool, i'll never be more than one drink away from joining you.

An idea worth spreading

iKarma.com - Harnessing the value of a good reputation. Sometimes the invisible hand of capitalism is just a little too invisible. Good businesses that invest in quality and service are often thwarted by competition that skimps on quality but spends on slick advertising. That’s not the way capitalism is supposed to work (at least not according to my 5th grade civics teacher). Capitalism works best when consumers are educated and can exchange information with each other. I designed iKarma.com to give business people a way to harness the power of their reputation and trust, and use it to turn happy customers into a powerful sales force. Although designed as a tool for business, iKarma really empowers consumers. iKarma allows consumers to reward the businesses that serve them well and to warn others about those that don’t. iKarma puts the “invisible hand” back in charge of the marketplace, rewarding good business and protecting consumers in the process.
