In 2006, at the age of 23, Helder Guimarães became the youngest ever World Champion of Card Magic. He was awarded the title in a triennial competition after his performance left both the judging panel and over a thousand other performers utterly baffled. Since then, using his background in acting and theater, he has created and performed his one man-shows: The No-Show Show, This is Not Normal and Incomplete. Helder has also worked as a magic consultant for several TV projects, including The Tonight Show, and for theatrical productions such as Harold Pinter's The Dumb Waiter and William Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream. He is the author of Reflections, a book for professional conjurers, in which he shares his vision and approach to magic. Helder's work has been widely recognized by his peers, described as "a thespian's stage approach without theatrics" and "universally lauded". Magic Magazine considered Helder "one of the brightest thinkers and performers of his generation." His professional activity is divided between this artistic, performance based work and educational pursuits. Helder travels around the world as an instructor and consultant, offering training based on his experience in creativity and manipulation of perceptions to help companies in areas such as problem solving, communication and marketing. Most recently, he was awarded the title of Parlor Magician of the Year, in both 2012 and 2013, by the Academy of Magical Arts. Helder Guimarães is the co- creator and Magic Choreographer of Nothing to Hide, the acclaimed magic show directed by Neil Patrick Harris. Discussing Nothing to Hide, The New York Times said "Unseen and unfathomable artistry is behind each feat" and Entertainment Weekly said "Clever, surprising and altogether incredible". Helder currently lives in Los Angeles, California.
