Hong Heng Tang is the curator of TEDxPenang Island and a long-time advocate for women’s empowerment, community learning and the power of ideas to create meaningful change. 32 years ago, she co-founded Sister Camp, an initiative that gives women access to knowledge, mentorship and practical support, particularly those navigating unemployment, domestic violence or the challenges of raising a family alone. The programme now welcomes more than 400 returning participants each year. Through TEDxPenang Island, Hong Heng hopes to create spaces where ideas can touch lives, strengthen communities and inspire action, one speaker and one idea at a time.
