I'm passionate about
Helping individuals, couples, companies, institutions, and lately, governments improve their emotional health and that of their employees/clients/citizens.
Also, psychological futurism!
An idea worth spreading
We need to take our emotional health as seriously as we do our physical health. Fortunately, there is now a lot of science that can help us take concrete steps to do just that.

The TED story
I first discovered TED in 2009 via the TED podcast. I was at the gym working out at the time. I remember stopping what I was doing and sitting down so I could listen to the rest of the talk without interruption. I was totally hooked.
My first TED Talk was posted to TED's website in 2015 and garnered a million views in less than 3 weeks. I remember thinking, 'What could possibly be more exciting than this?' And then I got invited to speak on the main stage at TED2017 and I went, 'Oh, yeah--that.'
In 2020, I became TED's first columnist and launched 'Dear Guy' on TED's Ideas Blog. Working with my editor Daryl Chen to create a science based advice column, especially during the coronavirus pandemic, has been a true honor.
Things you might not know
Stand-up comedy. And by 'good' I mean I did it for a bunch of years. Also, in addition to science-based psychology books, I write screenplays and novel (yes, just one so far).
