Bio

Jennifer L. Scheffer is a dynamic, innovative, and energetic teacher leader who is committed to changing the educational landscape by providing students with real-world, personalized learning opportunities. She specializes in technology integration and has fourteen years of experience in marketing, entrepreneurship, and business management education. Jennifer leads a globally recognized, student run Help Desk program which exists to support Burlington High School's 1:1 iPad program. She consults with teachers, administrators, and technology directors across the country on how they can develop a similar program. Jennifer is also the TED-Ed Club Facilitator and lead curator of TEDxYouth@BHS. Outside of the Burlington community, Jennifer is the Massachusetts Google Educator Group Leader and is a Google Certified Educator. She provides training on Google Apps for Education in and outside of her district and uses Google's suite of apps to enhance communication, collaboration, critical thinking, and creativity. Jennifer is also passionate about digital citizenship education and is a co-moderator of the official digital citizenship Twitter chat. She is an advocate for using social media tools to develop professional learning networks and works to help young people build and maintain a positive and professional online presence.

An idea worth spreading

Students need voice and choice in their education. School mustn't be a simulation of the real-world, it must be the real-world. Students need to see the relevance in what they are learning and be given the freedom and flexibility to discover and pursue their passions.

The TED story

I became involved with TED in the fall of 2013 when I began facilitating the TED Ed Club at Burlington High School. I have served as the facilitator of TED for the past two years. This coming May I will be organizing TEDxYouth@BHS.
