Bio

My motivations is to always help others to flourish and make a better version of themselves. I want to help others by helping them, giving them new perspectives and by inspiring them. My life slogan is ‘just do stuff’. This is to always be open to new opportunities and experience and the latter to inspire others. Now, I think that by organising this TEDx event together with the people here, will be the next step. Interested to be a part of this? Send me a message! TEDxUniversityofGroningen

I'm passionate about

The passions in my own life led to my motivation to organise this TEDx event. Personally, the ground of my motivations is to always help others to flourish and make a better version of themselves. I want to help others by helping them, giving them new perspectives and by inspiring them. My two life slogans are ‘just do stuff’ and ‘be inspired’. The first is to always be open to new opportunities and experience and the latter to inspire others. For the past two years I would say, I have been searching for what I am passionate about. I always had the feeling that I am drawn towards helping others and since corona I have found a better way to approach this. Firstly, I started creative projects for myself and within the EBF. I edited videos as a way to show others what is out there with a very marketing focussed mindset. I promoted events, shared it mouth to mouth and this had a very positive impact on myself. Within the EBF, and in my daily life, I keep on being optimistic and enthusiastic. Here, my personal quote ‘just do stuff’, arose from. The happiest you can get in this vision is that trying to be positive and optimistic to new experiences will always bring you the best outcome. This can be for your development, but also for your personal happiness. During my exchange in Indonesia, I had a course where we needed to give a ‘lookalike of a TED talk’. Here, I spoke about this passion and my personal experience. That was the moment I knew that this is what my passion is in life. Ever since, I have tried to find new opportunities to share this vision. On social media, with my friends giving workshops and during my board year. Now, I think that by organising this TEDx event together with the people here, will be the next step.

An idea worth spreading

Be sure to help others find their passion and develop themselves while energizing everyone. Are you a giver or a taker? | Adam Grant - December, 2018. I watched this TED Talk a long time ago and I have always kept it in my mind since I really see myself in this talk. My life has been a journey of giving, I also almost never say no, since I think that giving will always result in beautiful things that come back to you. Next to this, I think Adam is a very confident and humorous person. I think that linking academics with humor has a very strong effect on a listener, especially when it is linked with emotions and when people feel close to the topic. From this talk on, I try to be more aware about myself and others around me. I actually believe in that real contribution and to help myself is by helping other people succeed. - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YyXRYgjQXX0 The surprising habits of original thinkers | Adam Grant - January, 2019. I like creativity and thinking about original ideas. It is difficult to come up with right away, however, the topic this talk touches upon reaches to me. Firstly, I like to think about how I can become more and more original and how I can positively trigger myself towards this. This talk helped me to think about it and this becomes even more interesting since I am currently studying innovation. I like to think out of the box and not on the red line like many do. It is always good to doubt about the options and look for new alternatives, however, the most difficult part is to get yourself to doubt and look for these options. These types of Ted Talks keep me sharp and help me to refresh this mindset. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fxbCHn6gE3U EMPATHY - BEST SPEECH OF ALL TIME By Simon Sinek | Inspiritory - October, 2020 This is one of my favorite TED Talks I recently saw. The interesting thing about this talk is not necessarily the link with business. However, the empathy, the will to actually be interested in another person and to help them where possible draw my attention. I think with the right effort and openness we can accomplish so much more than just being a business. I always believe in the persons I work together with and this really strengthens my way of leadership. - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IJyNoJCAuzA

The TED story

My TED story has already begun with my interest in inspiring people and public speaking. However, this is just the beginning of my TED story. Now, my second chapter will start with not only adding value to my community but also to inspire the whole community by organizing this event with great people! Things you might not know

What is the level of enthusiasm that I have? That is a definite 10 out of 10. To conclude, during corona I started thinking more and more about where I am passionate about and I have the feeling this lies mostly in public speaking and event management. With the ground motivation that I want to inspire others and help them to become a better version of themselves. Lastly, my motivation to organise this event is really high. I have had this idea in my mind for a long time and it would be great to realise. Thank you.
