Bio
Margie Traylor has a sixth sense, a keen ability of sorts, which enables her to connect today's actions with tomorrow' opportunities. And that is a good thing for Sitewire, the digital advertising agency she co-founded in 1999. To the outside world, Margie is Sitewire's Chief Executive Officer, but to those on the inside, she is somewhat of a psychic.
Her "sense" manifests itself through identification and nurturing of talent, new business opportunities, client growth and satisfaction, and converting ideas into profit.
Margie doesn't hire people; rather, she enables people to realize their potential, be it through work at Sitewire or not. She has launched dozens of careers and is immensely proud that a number of employees started their own businesses after leaving Sitewire.
Margie is not a new business networker. Instead, she redefined how businesses come together to do business. She is the fuel that powers connections, investing time in an existing business development methodology, then augmenting it into a proprietary differentiator that has enabled Sitewire to close 70% of the business it goes after. That business is, on average, 5-10 times the size of the business Sitewire previously attracted and includes Fortune 500 clients like Kroger, Avnet and Aetna.
Margie is active in the community. She sits on the national board of SCORE, a nonprofit association, based in Washington, D.C., dedicated to helping small businesses get off the ground, grow and achieve their goals through education and mentorship. In addition, she is a member of the board of directors of John C. Lincoln Health Network, two not-for-profit community hospitals based in Phoenix, Arizona. She also sits on Google's Independent Agency Advisory Board.
With a background in numbers, Margie is equally comfortable talking balance sheets and journal entries. She began her career as a CPA at Price Waterhouse and later moved to manage marketing operations for MicroAge, a Fortune 500 Company. It was there she met future Sitewire co-founder, Bret Giles. Before leaving, Margie became a Vice President of E-commerce at MicroAge and was an integral part of the development of the company's digital strategy and rollout of its first e-commerce platform.
Graduating from the W. P. Carey School of Business at Arizona State University (ASU), Margie received her accounting degree. Years later, she was honored by ASU with the Entrepreneur Alumni Award from the Spirit of Enterprise Center. In 2010, she was honored to represent Arizona as recipient of the Small Business Person of the Year Award from the U.S. Small Business Administration.
