Bio
I design how healthcare evolves. My focus is on transforming healthcare systems through AI, digital innovation, and human-centered design, not managing the status quo.
What I Do:
Architecture Healthcare Futures: I work(ed) at the intersection of clinical innovation, AI infrastructure, and digital transformation. I care about how healthcare systems evolve, not just how they operate today.
AI as Infrastructure: I see artificial intelligence not as a tool, but as transformational infrastructure for healthcare. I actively track and advise on clinical AI, health tech startups, and digital health transformation initiatives.
Bridge Research to Reality: Rooted in Acute healthcare I'm deeply embedded in academic research, healthcare innovation ecosystems, innovation hubs across Europe and globally, and policy/governance layers, translating breakthroughs into practice.
Global Health Systems Thinking: I work across borders. While rooted in the Dutch healthcare ecosystem (Radboudumc, Erasmus MC, Maastricht UMC+), I engage with health systems in Canada, Spain, Nordics, Portugal, Africa, and the UAE to identify emerging solutions and transfer knowledge.
Who I Work(ed) With:
-Healthcare systems and medical centers seeking transformation (i.e. ZuyderlandMC, LaurentiusMC, ErasmusMC, and now Maastricht University Medical Center).
-Health tech startups in digital health, clinical AI, and prevention
-Policy organizations and health innovation ecosystems (Multiple MoH's)
-Speaking engagements and thought leadership on healthcare transformation
-Advisory roles and strategic collaborations (i.e. Deloitte, Vodafone, Sanofi, Jarviss, Cisco, Microsoft)
My Network:
18000+ connections globally across hospitals, medical research, health innovation, AI, and policy. 89.8% inbound from people seeking collaboration. This reflects a network built on trust and shared commitment to healthcare innovation.
Broadly sharing network, info, knowledge and experience with 750.000+ followers Linkedin and 200.000+ active subscribers on my newsletters.
What I'm Looking For:
Strategic advisory roles, speaking opportunities, and collaborations that shape how healthcare systems actually transform. Not interested in traditional executive roles, interested in where the future is being built.
Learn More:
Speaking with impact (Global, 100+ keynotes/yr, boardroom-sessions) : Healthcare innovation, AI in medicine, digital transformation, futures thinking, eco-systemplay
Focus areas: Clinical AI, digital health, healthcare innovation strategy, health policy, patient-centered transformation
Channels: Publishing, speaking circuits (ICT & Health, HIMSS, HLTH, conferences)

The TED story
Overlooking my work, the conversations, the research the talks of Karen Armstrong and Rabby Soetendorp at TEdx Amsterdam where instrumental for my insight : Compassion is the key.
It will be my goal to create, stimulate, enhance and strengthen Participatory Healthcare with educating and stimulating Compassion in the healthcare institution that I work in/with
There are still a few remaining JigSaw pieces on the table ;-)
I often quote Francis: "Start by doing what's necessary; then do what's possible, and suddenly you are doing the impossible" So, I picked up the idea to set up a TEDx conference: The very first www.tedxmaastricht.com was the result on April 4th, 2011. Since then, never lost TED-virus and organized 4 of them;-) And now (2026 > 2027) a next one is coming up ;-)
