Bio
I run Arcstudio, a design atelier on Bainbridge Island WA that provides graphic design and architectural consulting services. Arcstudio's expertise is in planning meaningful environments. We strive to reveal the stories that link people. We are collaborators; we solve for x.
I am committed to public service and contribute to my community by providing leadership services to non-profit, community and educational organizations in the Northwest. I serve as an educator to bring extracurricular math and design programs into public schools and coordinate a Math Olympiad program within Bainbridge Island School district.
I have curated a number of arts and architecture programs and am a founding director of Space.City, Seattle's Forum for Art and Architecture. Previous community service includes membership on the directorial board of Seattle's Allied Arts, Bainbridge Art and Humanities Council and Bainbridge Public Arts Council.
I'm passionate about
Design with intention. Keeping narrative alive in our experience. Giving as much as I can. Really good food. Being thankful for it all.
An idea worth spreading
An 11 year old child said, "When opportunity calls, pick up the phone! Don't let life leave a message."
The TED story
When I was in art school in the 80's, founder Saul Wurman introduced me to TED -- his TED, that secretive bastion of design to which very few were admitted (and certainly no one I knew). It was years later -- when Chris Anderson acquired TED and took advantage of online video technology to share TED's great intellectual and entrepreneurial wealth with all -- that TED became part of my life too. My sister Renee Wilson encouraged me. I had been organizing architectural lectures through Space.City for a decade and she knew TEDx would be an instant hook. We had enjoyed years together of hosting family and friends and feeding them; it was fabulous to add TEDx to the mix. Our first co-organized TEDx was in her home in Los Angeles in October 2009, TEDxArt&ScienceLA. My first solo TEDx was a live stream of TEDIndia in Seattle one month later. Renee is no longer here to share her passion for all things TED, but her spirit lives on in TEDx events everywhere.
