Bio
Hi, everyone. Welcome to my page! My Chinese name is Kanglin Chen, and you can call me Connie. Living in Guangzhou, China, I am a native speaker of Chinese and Cantonese. I am also fluent in English, so please feel free to contact me with the language you are familiar with :D
Now I am studying the AP course as a high school student in Guangdong Experimental High School. Frankly speaking, it is kind of challenging for me to transition from Chinese traditional education to the AP course. But I find that through this experience, I have not only learned a lot of knowledge but also broadened my horizons. My favorite academic subject is biochemistry, from which I can deepen my understanding of this world from a biological and micro perspective.
Apart from my academic interest, I love drawing paintings. I am quite sensitive, and art can help me to express my feelings freely.
I'm passionate about
I believe that painting is a good way for me to express my ideas freely, and I have practiced painting since an early age. To date, I have studied Chinese traditional paintings for four years with much progress. I also took the initiative to contribute to many extracurricular activities in the school with my insights and skills in painting. Painting has become a significant part of my life.
Moreover, I am so addicted to biology. Influenced by my parents who studied pharmacy at university and still work in this industry now, I am keen about exploring the wonders of biochemistry. As I learned more about biochemistry from schools and other sources such as the talks of famous scientists, I strengthened my determination to work in related fields in the future. I am so passionate about changing this world for the better through biotechnological approaches.

The TED story
When I was 12 years old, I resisted learning and practicing English because I had no idea how important it was to master a second language. To arouse my interest, my English tutor introduced some TED Videos to me, and I found these speeches so inspiring and the speakers on the stage so shining and eloquent. Thanks to those videos, I not only realized the fun of learning English, but also became very interested in TED, a platform that gathers and spreads many interesting ideas. From then on, I have kept watching a talk video every two weeks.
In 2019, I participated in TEDxZhuJiangXinCheng Event in Guangzhou. It was my first time watching the talks offline, and I met people who were passionate about different ideas or devoted to various areas. Unlike the lengthy and dull speeches, the TEDx Talks were no more than 18 minutes, providing a chance for audience to know new ideas efficiently. Each talk was so thought-provoking at TEDxZhuJiangXinCheng that I was inspired to hold a similar event to spread interesting ideas to my community.
Things you might not know
People around me regard me as a quiet and shy girl. However, they may not know that I am really passionate about sharing my own thoughts and ideas with others. I love to observe things around me and analyze the rationales behind them, and I desire to share my ideas and analysis with different people. That is also why I want to organize a TEDx event to spread great ideas.
