Bio

Jasjit Ahluwalia is a consultant, coach, and founder of Life First, a relational intelligence lab dedicated to helping people build healthier, more conscious human connections.

I'm passionate about

Human connection, behavioral patterns, and how relationships shape our lives. I’m especially curious about how culture, technology, and our inner worlds influence the way we relate to each other.

An idea worth spreading

How we relate shapes how we experience life. Relational intelligence gives us the awareness to navigate, deepen, and consciously create our human experiences

The TED story

I began my journey as an educator, studying how people learn, grow, and make meaning of the world. I was fascinated by patterns—how the same experience could shape people in completely different ways, depending on perception, environment, and inner world. But over time, I started noticing something we weren’t talking about enough. The quality of a person’s life wasn’t just shaped by what they knew. It was shaped by how they related—to themselves, to others, and to their experiences. And that understanding didn’t just come from theory. It came from living. I’ve spent much of my life moving across cities, cultures, and languages—learning how humans connect, misconnect, and belong. Then life brought me into a deeper inquiry. Loss. Grief. The kind of experience that doesn’t just change your life—it changes you. Losing my husband forced me to confront a question I had only studied before: What actually sustains us when everything familiar is gone? Once again, I found myself starting over. New city. New life. New identity. But this time, I wasn’t just adapting—I was observing. I began to see that beneath every relationship are patterns. Patterns of communication, emotion, and behavior—shaped by history, expectations, and unmet needs. And most of us are living inside these patterns… without ever being taught how to see them. That insight changed everything. Because when you understand the pattern, you stop asking: “What’s wrong with me?” or “What’s wrong with them?” And you start asking: “What’s really happening here?” Today, I’m in a beautiful relationship again. And what makes it meaningful is not just love—but awareness. The ability to consciously understand and create connection. Because what I’ve come to believe is this: The quality of our lives is shaped by the quality of our relationships. And the quality of our relationships is shaped by something we’re rarely taught— Relational intelligence.
