Bio
Nadeem Ali was born in Wales in 1971 to parents of Pakistani descent. He graduated from Warwick University with an Honours degree in Biological Sciences & Genetics but somehow fell into banking. Having worked for HSBC, The Bank of England and JP Morgan, he has spent the last 14 years at Morgan Stanley & Co, and is currently an Executive Director within their Prime Brokerage business. His focus has been hedge funds, working with them throughout their entire life cycle from setup to growth to 'calling it a day'. Nadeem spent 6 years with Morgan Stanley in Hong Kong and Tokyo.
He is a passionate traveller and explorer - one of his most vivid memories ia an astonishing road trip from Wales to Pakistan with his parents and four brothers. The journey of some 7,000 miles covering Belgium, Germany, Austria, Yugoslavia, Greece, Turkey, Iran, Afghanistan (dodging the Russian tanks) and finally across Pakistan was a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Geopolitical and regime changes have altered these borders forever, so much so that this particular route can never be repeated.
Nadeem has an avid interest in genes, the human mind and finance. He strongly believes there's a compelling and intertwined story worth telling. In his spare time, Nadeem renovates and builds property.

The TED story
Nadeem says "I was introduced to TED through my brother who is the founder of Waterloo Tea. You can usually find him at TED and TEDglobal - he's an unapologetic perfectionist when it comes to the finest, exquisite teas and coffee so make sure you taste some of his brews. He forced me to watch a TED talk a few years ago and I was hooked...."
