About Selman
Bio
I was born in August 1979.
After my graduation, I started working at Bil Education Intuitions (BEI) as a general director. Even though my age was not enough mature to be in that position, founders of BEI trusted my strategic planning abilities and management skills from the first day. Those days were very struggling period of my life but I accomplished major milestones for BEI and improve portfolio of BEI approximately 75% and construct a corporate structure from a mid-size company.
In addition to build my career at BEI, I attended a graduate program at Fatih University in Istanbul on Turkish Language and Literature program. I chose to study on Muhammed Nazmi Efendi's book on tariqah tradition and tasawwuf orientation to Middle Eastern communities. I translated Nazmi Efendi's book from its original language to Modern Turkish Language. I am very cheerful to translate this book to Turkish community because it promotes peaceful understanding between communities and people. That is what exactly needed for Middle Eastern region.
Up to recent years, I decided to combine my working experience with academic knowledge and I was certain to get my education in the best possible school. I wanted to move the United States of America and pursue my doctoral degree. I went to UNH (University of New Haven) for seven months. Then I received Business-Marketing program at UCONN (University of Connecticut).
Then, I decided to go back to my country. Now, I am a Head of International Student Unit at Istanbul Aydin University.
I'm passionate about
My strongest impetus is having seen what often happens when children do not have appropriate education in Middle East.I have loved volunteering with children to teach a way of life.
An idea worth spreading
Turkey has a unique strategic position between East and West which endows the country with over ten thousand years of rich history and cultural traditions. As Europe's gateway to Asia and surrounded by three great seas. All Middle East students should have the opportunity to consider to make a difference despite of regional difficulties. It is dedicated to broadening access and cultivating a diverse, globally-savvy workforce. So, we launched our Initiative to Diversify Education Abroad (IDEA) to creatively address the relatively low participation of underrepresented students in Turkey. These students discussed the importance of an international education experience to college students and the role this experience plays in the preparation of students for an increasingly global workforce. This IDEA can change their world.
