If you have ever seen the documentary, The Donut King, on Hulu, my parents own donut shop with a sign featured in that because my parents are Cambodian refugees (although we are Chinese) that are a part of that story. My parents’ survival (hi)stories largely shaped my own upbringing, and passion for equality, basic human rights, and justice. I feel grateful for the life I have journeyed thus far, from growing up in San Diego, having opportunities like A.V.I.D., attending Penn State, working various jobs, volunteering, and working to make a positive difference in the world.

I hold onto the belief that there are currently enough resources in the world for everyone to be have basic human needs met, and be happy. There is the capacity for money to not have to exist and people can generally get what they want. There is the capacity for everyone’s vote to count on specific issues instead of on figures to represent them. We live in a global society and should treat it as such. There can be a general guide to life that we can then work together to help each other and our environment.

A mathematical equation exists for the minimum amount of work hours of essential jobs needed per person to help society function, and grow.
