John Igwe is a youth capacity development coach who has over 6 years of hands-on experience working with more than 5,000 young people across 13 countries. John is the co-founder of Jumpstart Academy, a non-profit educational organisation that provides access to quality and all-round education to students in underserved communities. Currently, John is the Head of Department, Entrepreneurial Leadership Program at Elizade University where he works with 9 members of faculty to take 300+ students through a rigorous curriculum on Design Thinking, Ethical Leadership, Problem Solving and Systems Thinking. He is interested in activities geared towards social change through empowering the youth, hence his interest with the Ted community.

Education. I believe the current education system has failed to create the wave of problem solvers we need in the world today. A reinvention is of great importance at this point and that is where I see myself.

What if we have a system of education that is built and designed to prepare students for the future? What if we did that by also redefining what we now call formal education from an activity that must be carried out in the four walls of a school to an exercise that can be carried out with the only those in question, the learner and the teacher? I have a plan to equip 100 Million students with the necessary tools needed to lead their lives after school. A skill that makes them autodidactic and mission-driven.
