The TED story

On 6 August 2010, I attended a luncheon for the alumni of the Butterfield Bank scholarship programme in the Cayman Islands. To start off, Samantha Nehra (the Bank's VP Learning & Development at the time), shared Richard St. John's TED Talk: 8 Secrets of Success. I was simply blown away at how his idea was presented so profoundly in a short period of time. That evening I went home to further explore TED.com and take in more talks. My love affair with the movement began. Since that time I have shared and had conversations about TED.com and talks with so many people and I have seen how it has transformed minds and communities. I wanted for the spirit of TEDx to touch the Cayman Islands and so after waiting year after year, I decided to explore the possibility of making it happen. TEDxSevenMileBeach was a multi-sensory experience that engaged organisations and individuals (live and virtually) in the Cayman Islands in a way that has never been done before.
