Esha Chiocchio

Esha Chiocchio is a National Geographic Explorer drawn to the human spirit and the diversity of world cultures. She is passionate about environmental conservation and the preservation of traditional wisdom. She has photographed around the globe for publications, non-profit organizations and commercial clients including National Geographic, Newsweek and Bonefish Grill. In addition to her work as a documentary photographer, Esha teaches photography to culturally and socioeconomically diverse high school students around the world with the Fredric Roberts Photography Workshops. Since earning a master’s degree in Sustainable Communities in 2013, she wrote The Forest and Water Climate Adaptation Plan for the City of Santa Fe, served on the mayor-appointed Sustainable Santa Fe Commission, co-founded Renewable Energy Day at the New Mexico State Capitol, and continues to teach children and adults about climate science and sustainability. She is now bridging her passions by using photography to highlight climate solutions. Good Earth, her current project, profiles land stewards in New Mexico who are working to rebuild soils through regenerative practices that draw carbon from the atmosphere and sequester it as soil organic matter. This strategy improves resilience and productivity while reducing atmospheric carbon dioxide and is one of our most promising climate solutions. Esha lives in a co-housing community in Santa Fe, New Mexico, with her husband, photographer Jamey Stillings, and their two children, Zubin and Ciela.
