About Ulrich
Bio
Uli Voges (b. 1966) studied art history, economics and english literature in Frankfurt and London.
In 1992 - as a student - he founded his first gallery (Voges + Deisen, later Voges Gallery), which promoted artists in their early career stage and re-discovered artistic positions which were influential to the younger generation.
In 1999, Uli was instrumental in re-energizing the Frankfurt Art Fair by conceiving the "New Attitudes" section for younger galleries; later in his career he acted as a Board Member of Art Chicago, when it was still the top fair in the U.S.
His vivid interest in art fairs as a platform for galleries to show on an international stage, lead to the conception of the first VOLTAshow in Basel in 2005. Launched with fellow-founders Friedrich Loock, Kavi Gupta, and Amanda Coulson the VOLTA concept branched out in 2008 to New York and introduced VOLTA NY, a strictly solo project art fair.
As a participant and close observer of the primary art market for over 20 years, Uli finally initiated FOUNDATIONâ„¢ in 2011, the first financial service for young and mid-career galleries.
