Bandi Mbubi works for social justice, peace and prosperity in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), the United Kingdom (UK) and the World. He is the director of Congo Calling, which works to influence the mining and technology industries to trade and use ethically sourced minerals from the DRC. He writes and speaks nationally and internationally to bring the world’s attention to the atrocities being committed in the Congo and for a peaceful resolution to the ongoing war. He has featured in mainstream media, including BBC, CNN, rtve, Forbes, The Guardian, The Huffington Post and IBTimes UK. He lobbies for the adoption and implementation of political, legal and commercial frameworks to promote ethical mining practices in the DRC. Bandi has inspired consumers around the world to demand the development of fair trade technology which uses ethically-sourced, conflict-free minerals from the DRC. He has spoken at 15 universities in the UK and the US and on several occasions at Campus Party, TED and TEDx events where he contributed to the discussion on technology as well as the sourcing of metals for electronics in Africa. Bandi’s work has received international acclaim, with BBC Outlook naming him one of its Top 50 Inspirations. In 2014, the RSA named him as one of the Top 100 most promising Diaspora Change Makers. He is a Tearfund Inspired Individual. He is also the director of The Manna Society, which runs a day centre for homeless people in central London.
