Bio

Pascal Cagni is an independent director for companies such as Kingfisher Plc (KGF.L) and from December 2012 Vivendi (VIV.PA). Since he left Apple end of 2012 after leading Apple in Europe ME, India and Africa for 13 years he is as a partner at IDiPC, he advises many startups and handles an investment portfolio in Internet of Things and the digital and luxury industries. In 2000, Steve Jobs appointed Pascal as General Manager, Vice President of Apple, Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA). Thanks to the talented European management team Pascal has built up around him, Apple EMEA has been the fastest growing region within Apple for several years, with a revenue that has grown from 1 to nearly 40 billion dollars. The geographic deployment of Apple in Central Europe, Middle East and Africa resulted in a five-fold revenue increase in this region in just four years and serves as a model for accelerating Apple s expansion in emerging markets like India, which was transferred in October 2008 to Pascal s region. Pascal has played a vital role in Europe s Digital Revolution thanks to the accelerated deployment of innovative and ground-breaking products such as the iPod in 2001, iPhone in 2007 and iPad in 2010. Those product launches resulted in the creation and execution of tens of marketing and sales plans, as well as distribution partnerships with over 200 mass merchants and 170 phone carriers. Parallel to the Apple Retail Stores deployment in Europe, Pascal Cagni created the Apple Premium Resellers network. This concept is now being used by Apple on a global scale, reaching over 1,200 stores and $8 billion dollars of revenue. In addition to APR, Apple Shops in shops provide a premium Apple experience within department stores and mass merchants, allowing Apple to cover a significant share of Europe. Over the last 12 years, Pascal has closely worked with Tim Cook, now CEO of Apple and played a key role in the internationalization of Apple while developing innovative management practices. Previously, Pascal Cagni worked at Packard Bell Europe for 5 years and played a critical role in establishing new R&D, manufacturing facilities and operations while creating a truly successful pan-European organization. Pascal led Packard Bell as Vice President Europe, to become the main Division of a newly created NEC Computer International. Packard Bell had 50 employees for a revenue of less than $100M when Pascal joined. In 5 years, he participated in the creation of 1,500 jobs in Angers, and in reaching the number one position in the European Home Computer market, with a revenue above $1.2 billion. For 8 years prior to this, Pascal Cagni held several management positions in different European locations with Software Publishing Corp. (SPC), publisher of Harvard Graphics. At less than 30 years old, he created the French subsidiary of SPC where he took several responsibilities before heading Europe Marketing and Business Development. Prior to this, Pascal had participated in Compaq France s incredible growth. Compaq was then the youngest company to join the "Fortune 500" US. Pascal discovered within the computer market a stimulating challenge, and a real passion that has driven him for nearly twenty years. Upon his return from the Silicon Valley in 1986 where he worked for Credit Lyonnais bank as a financial analyst, Pascal worked as a consultant focusing on several pan-European assignments with the leading Management Consultants firm Booz, Allen & Hamilton. Pascal is a founding member of the European Executive Council (EEC), a think-tank comprising European leaders of non-European companies set up to discuss developmental strategies and integration into the European market. He is a member of the Supervisory Board of the Aspen Institute. Pascal also gives lectures on leadership and innovation at London Business School as well as at HEC, #1 Business School in Europe (Financial Times 2006 till 2011). Thanks to his 25-year long experience in the technology, telecom and media industries, Pascal frequently expresses his views on the digital economy during conferences such as Le Web 12 or the Digiworld Summit by IDATE. Executive boards from global corporations in Luxury Goods, Cosmetic, Automobile and Retail often request him to share his insight on the successful innovative strategies that he has been enforcing for several years. For several years, Pascal has been involved in activities promoting Sustainable Development including a personal involvement alongside Yann Arthus-Bertrand in his foundation GoodPlanet.org. He also created a foundation (TCF) to support the development of digital teaching without borders. Finally, Pascal is a benefactor of the HEC Foundation, a member of the French Foreign Trade Advisors, and a Knight of the French Order of Merit. Nominated by the French Prime Minister, Pascal joined the 63rd promotion of IHEDN (2010-2011), where geostrategic issues related to National Defense are studied.
