Been an entrepreneur all my life. Grown up on the east side of the Berlin wall, being stuck in a system that controlled the freedom of their people and at the age of 6 not understanding why someone would do that I developed a pretty deep urge for liberty. One result is of that is that eversince the age of 20 I been self-employed pretty much all the time.

The importance for strength exercising over cardio exercise! Cardio sure is important too for a healthy body, but starting around the age of 30 our muscles start to degenerate. At the age of 80 up to 40% of our muscle tissue may be lost in case we don't do anything against that by exercising regularly. That leads to serious problems with the musculoskeletal system and is one of the main reasons why older people and up using wheeled walkers or even worse end up in wheelchairs. The muscles will just not be sufficient enough anymore to support proper walking. Everyone should do regular strength exercising and it just starts with the little things. Don't take the escalator for just one or two floors, if there is no other choice don't just stand on it, but climb the steps meanwhile! Same counts for the elevator, use stairs instead every once in a while. And if joint problems prevent that, then electrical muscle stimulation / exercising may be the only feasible solution !

Got introduced to the idea of TED by my good friend John K Bates. Was sort of a spectator at Tedactive 2011 & 2012 for the last day on Friday. Loved the spirit there ! Then I went to TedxMontery and two TedxBerlin in 2012 and decided I HAVE to attend Tedactive 2013 for the entire time !
