Hello TED 2009. I used to work in a Think Tank in London called Demos, where I wrote about public spaces, creativity and cities. I'm interested in what I guess you might loosely call 'digital citizenship' - the ways in which the internet and digital technology have altered, enhanced or rewritten the ways we organise and express ourselves. I work independently at the moment doing bits and pieces of writing and research, but there are sooooo many more things I want to do.

Skip Share. In the UK it's still technically illegal to take stuff out of other people's skips. Skip Share would enable people with a skip to geotag its location/list its contents/people who like looking in skips could collect it. People get timber, piping, glass and other useful stuff for free - we use less landfill. The only downside is that you could be GPSing your skip for flytippers. not sure how to get round this. my ted story? my ted story. er, about a year ago, when I was living in Singapore, I told my friend Pete in London that he should send an email to the TED people about their project to 'prove the awesome power of news photography in the digital age' (James Nachtwey's TED Wish). I didn't think anything of it, till about three months later when Pete told me that the people at TED had emailed back and said it would be cool if we could help with the project. This email came at a bit of an aimless time in my life and well, I guess I kind of embraced the idea that this could become a very cool way to spend my time. We sorted out projections of James Nachtwey's pictures in several places around London, including The National Theatre. I printed up 60 ts in mybedroom, with the letters X,D,R,T & B on them and forced various different friends, aquaintances etc to walk around in them in front of the pictures. For 3 wks I worked in a gallery tinkering with different ways of.. ah! what? nomorespaCE!

i'm good at jams, cakes, chutney, ice cream, pies and quiches. I brew ale, cider and wine. i can do basic carpentry, and i'm good at growing tomatoes. owing to my slight physique, i amalsogoodathiding
