Bio
I'm a rising junior at Tufts University studying International Relations and Film & Media Studies.
I've been involved in TEDx since the age of 13. Beginning with founding TEDxEMWS in my high school, joining the core committee of Asia's largest: TEDxGateway, moving on to mentoring and hosting multiple TEDx events, Organizer Meets and Workshops and now Curating TEDxTufts!
When I'm not doing things TED-related, I'm making videos, traveling, representing the international community at Tufts in my capacity as President of the International Club. Also modeling and acting on the side, cause why not? Interning with Condé Nast this summer. Spending my next semester on a ship studying and visiting 12 countries in 109 days! Follow me on Instagram: @akshatrajan to stay tuned.
I'm passionate about
Acting. Connecting the dots. Cross pollination of ideas across disciplines. Content Curation. Bringing enterprising, artistic and social skills together to build communities that make a difference. Ideas into action. India. Spirituality. Fashion. Globalization. Entrepreneurship. TED!!
The TED story
I was introduced to TED in 2010, when I watched a TED Talk in my Computers class. Ever since, I've been watching TED Talks and been really inspired by them. In 2011, a friend of mine introduced me to TEDx and together, the two of us got approval from our school to apply for a license. All this together took 6 months to fall into place. Our license was finally approved on 26th September 2012 and our event on 16th February 2013. Man, organising a TEDx event was something we were so excited about that it left us blinded as to the amount of preparation and work it takes. Many people said when TEDx came into my life, everything else just stopped. My prime focus and attention was towards the event and then, the event came and it was a success! The audience summed it up for the speakers, "They came, they spoke and left us exhilarated."TEDx really changed my life because I've not found such passion for anything else in life, I'm just waiting to reapply and have yet another amazing experience.
