Bio
With an education in graphic arts and literature (Tilburg/Boston), I started my working life at the European Institute for the Media, at first in Manchester UK and later in Duesseldorf Germany. The EIM researched changes in the European media landscape and I headed their conference department, organising the European Television and Film Forum in Istanbul, Seville, and other places.
In 1998 I returned to the Netherlands, to establish Van Dusseldorp & Partners, a company that researched the European internet landscape for a variety of US and European clients. We also organised conferences like TV meets the Web, and published Europemedia, a crowdsourced news service on new media developments across the continent with 60.000 subscribers.
Since 2003 I have been active as a freelance conference producer; helping launch a series of events. I was involved with the Amsterdam cross media festival PICNIC, which I helped launch in 2005; I served as its program director for the first three editions 2006-2008. I am on the board of the TEDxAmsterdam Foundation, and have been its curator since 2009. I have been the international program director of Next Berlin since 2010, and have been involved with the launch of the Wired Event in London in 2011. I have produced a series of media and technology events for iMMovator in the Netherlands. My main tasks usually include the identification of relevant themes and speakers, inviting speakers, and preparing conference sessions.
Over the years I have also been on various boards and juries (to name a few, I was on the board of the Dutch public broadcaster NPS, the Dutch Filmmuseum, the Gridforum association and member of two expert commissions advising the Dutch government on ICT policies). At the moment I am on the board of Next Nature, and an advisor to the E-Cture fund.
