Laurie Laykish

Laurie lives and works in Hilton Head, SC. She is a Co-Organizer of TEDxHiltonHead after volunteering at the past four events. Her favorite TED Talks are "This is What Happens When You Reply to a Spam Email" and Monica Lewinsky's talk about falling in love. Her first TEDx event as an Organizer will be on November 4, 2023. Laurie's career spans many industries including fast food (McDonald's as SVP Marketing and Strategy), airline (Porter Airlines as VP Marketing ), telecommunication (Sprint Director of Advertising) and publishing (Local Life Magazine as an unsuccessfully retired Owner Operator). Her passion and experience is marketing, but only second to her passion for her Bernese Mountain Dogs, Dolly and Sparky. A lifelong learner, Laurie finished post-graduate studies at Harvard (Marketing and Digital Strategies) and is an alumnus of the University of Western Ontario. When she is not reading or researching, you can find her traveling, golfing, dog walking or enjoying wine with friends.

Laziness can be a good thing. The desire to live lazily means you have to become efficient. Get done what you need to and live how you want to.

I am writing it now. As a new Organizer, I am writing my TED story. A story about bringing ideas and people together on a little island called Hilton Head. Our dream is to make TEDxHiltonHead the signature event in Hilton Head and grow it from an afternoon to an entire weekend of learning, ideas and a-ha's.
