Bio

Yvette is the Executive Director of WITNESS, a global network of human rights defenders whose mission it is to train and support activists and citizens to use visual media and participatory technologies, safely and effectively, to expose human rights abuse and fight for human rights change. WITNESS aims to make the act of 'witnessing' - of capturing, exposing, amplifying human rights abuses into second nature for us all. WITNESS equips ordinary citizens with the skills, tools, platforms, and networks to expose and address injustice in their communities. Yvette envisions a citizen-driven human rights movement and collaboration between media, technology and human rights to effect human rights change. She serves on the boards of: AccessNow.org, FoundationCenter.org, MideastYouth.com (now:Majal.org)
