Amanda read philosophy at St. John's College, Cambridge. After graduating she worked at Working Title Films where she helped set up their low budget film label WT² and worked on the Oscar nominated Billy Elliot. At the same time Amanda began to experiment with her own films. Following her first short film as director, ID magazine picked Amanda as one of 250 people around the world that might influence contemporary culture. She was also named as one of ‘the UK’s most exciting new directors’ by Screen International. In 2004 Amanda left Working Title Films. She has since won an array of international awards and scholarships for her directing, producing and writing work. Amanda is the 2008/2009 Clore Leadership Programme’s Film Fellow.
