Bio

Stefan von Holtzbrinck is CEO of the Holtzbrinck Publishing Group, a family-owned German media and publishing group, which is the parent of Springer Nature, Digital Science, Macmillan and DIE ZEIT. The Group also owns stakes in funds and shares in over 300 internet companies worldwide including HV Capital, Insight Partners, GSV, 468 Capital, SMASHCAPITAL, SumUp, Enpal, ElevenLabs etc. The group also runs such companies as St. Martin’s Press, Farrar, Straus & Giroux, Picador, Tor Publishing Group and Macmillan Learning. He holds a PhD in media law from the Ludwig Maximilian University, Munich, and has held positions at Bloomsbury, Kirch and other companies before leading the Nature Publishing Group and, since 2001, the Holtzbrinck Publishing Group. He is Co-Founder and Chairman of the Max Planck Foundation, Honorary Senator of the Max Planck Society, Vice Chairman of the American Academy in Berlin and Founder and Chairman of the Stuttgarter Kinderstiftung. He sits in the Advisory Board of the Goethe Institute.
