Jeffrey Alnutt earned two degrees while incarcerated. He worked as a chaplain aide for 3 years and serves at the altar assisting the priest at Mass. Jeff is the vice president of the Attica Active Veterans' Group. Jeff studied law for the last 10 years, five of those years he worked as a law library clerk and paralegal at Attica Correctional Facility. He currently assists other inmates seeking relief from their convictions perfect and submit motions to the court. He hopes to win his freedom in the next 18 months.

The first time I ever heard of TED Talks was here at Attica when Superintendent Noeth requested I be part of the TEDx organizing committee. It was then that I watched a series of exceptional people share exceptional ideas through TEDx talks on YouTube. I was equally amazed to find that we, as New York State prisoners, were invited to share our ideas with the world. It is not often that we are told we have anything to say that people want to hear. It is an honor and privilege to be chosen to help organize such a positive and uplifting social event.
