Seeing first generation college students succeed at the university level and return to their communities to contribute to a positive feedback loop for future generations.

In the next 50 years, the world is destined to be discussing the water, food and energy needs of our planet. In today's schools, there is a lack of conversation surrounding these essential elements. We believe that schools need to foster a sense of stewardship in its students with the same intensity as it is pursuing the scholarship in its classrooms. Students that have a high consciousness surrounding the needs of our planet see the value of leadership and citizenship in our society. Growing these virtues of leadership and citizenship are essental to filling the ideas and thinking vacuum that has infected our local, state, and national governments. To do this, schools need to develop robust programming around sustainability including gardening, growing bees or other animals and second generation recycling efforts.

Education Leadership and Management

Before I was in a healthy learning environment, TED was central to my professional learning network. For me to feel in rhythm with all that surrounds me, I need a constant flow of knowledge and learning. TED has always been there to fill that void. It has been incredible to listen to experts and passionate learners talk about solutions. I maintain that we need more folks thinking about ways to improve our nation and world, and it is clear that TED enhances this world in this way. From having TED talks on the plane, in the car, and during a series of moments of waiting, I have grown in the down times. It has also been great to introduce more and more people to TED. There are still so many people that don't know that TED exists (hard to believe). The first time that I open this door for adults and kids, they too are hooked at the possibility of ideas were sharing.

Seeing the big picture, examining all of the option before problems emerge, and thinking about long-term systemic ways to navigate around issues.
