Educator/Teacher

I am the CPD lead for SAST (Sherborne Area Schools Trust) responsible for staff professional development across 17 schools, both primary and secondary. I am part of the SAST School Improvement team and co-lead on the ECT (Early Career Teacher) program and the ITT (Initial Teacher Trainees) in my role as Assistant Headteacher at Shaftesbury School. I have just transferred from a lead teacher role as Head of Faculty (PE) and will continue to teach Science and Computing 3 days a week at Shaftesbury School. I have a passion for teaching, learning, and innovation and work with a number of colleagues in a coaching and mentoring capacity. I co-host manage the coaching program and lead the school's award-winning STEAM offer which has grown from humble beginnings (12 students) to 10% of our school population. I consider myself a lifelong learner and enjoy being part of active learning communities such as the wonderful Hundred.org and the SAST cluster groups. I am currently completing my EdD at Bath University, where my research interests lie at the intersection of digital technology, social justice, and environmental issues. Partnering with industry leads, we have created an innovative and special place to learn which has captured the hearts and minds of our young people. If you don't believe me, you are welcome to come and see for yourself! The future classroom was shortlisted for a Global Innovation spotlight and has received a high level of press interest since opening. Our Ghana project has been transformational and we have expanded our reach to open a future classroom in Tema, just outside the capital, Accra. I work with a range of EdTech providers, field testing new technologies in exchange for user feedback and product development. In 2022 I became a finalist for the Pearson National Teacher Silver award in recognition of Digital Innovation. In my spare time, I enjoy hanging out with the family, traveling, playing and listening to music, and surfing whenever I can.
