Bio

Joe Mondello has had careers in graphic art, as president and co-founder of a charity, as a photographer and as a teacher, but his best work has always been that of synergist. Through discerning, encouraging and forging new and unexpected connections, Joe works to create new perceptions and perspectives which have changed people’s lives. This can often take the shape of finding or creating harmony in opposing worldviews. Joe, and his late partner Bruce Detrick, were honored for their work as Co-Founders of The Tamarand Foundation by Apple (“Change The World” award), The Citizens Committee of New York, The Department of Parks and Recreation of New York, The Municipal Art Society of New York, and were nominated for National Pathfinders Awards. Joe currently teaches at the New York Institute of English and Business. He is a graduate of New York University and has been privileged to study with such renowned artists as Larry Silk, Thom Powers, Joseph O. Holmes and Albert Maysles. His interests include film, theatre, photography, technology, philosophy, futurism, music and synergy. Born in The Bronx, raised on Long Island and a longtime Manhattanite, Joe has been an Upper West Sider since the mid 1980s.
