The TED story
I decided to being the idea of having my students put on a TEDx event after attending at NAIS conference. During a workshop a group of teachers talked about how they put on an event, and it made my mind rush with possibilities. Being so interested in authentic educational opportunities, I thought that a great way for students to practice their public speaking, leadership, problem solving, time management, and writing skills would be through putting on a TEDx event. And in less than a year (9 months later to be exact), the inaugural TEDxParkCityDaySchool event took place on November 15, 2012. The event was held at a Sundance theater in Park City, Utah, and was completely planned, promoted, and presented by the seventh and eighth graders of Park City Day School. Students wrote press releases, participated in interviews, held auditions, designed print and digital promotions, spoke, hosted, reached out to sponsors, ran lights and audio, and so much more. And now it's an annual event!

Sports! I enjoy the more feminine aspects of being a woman, such as high heels and make up, but I also love playing softball, rugby, and ultimate frisbee.
