About Bennett

I am a…

Designer, Entrepreneur, Musician, Student, Technologist

Bio

I am a designer and creative technologist working to fight pandemics at NOVID. I'm also an undergraduate attending Carnegie Mellon University studying Information Systems and Human-Computer Interaction. I'm passionate about exploring creative ways to better the world using technology and serve as the licensee and Co-President of Carnegie Mellon’s TEDx organization. Previously, I have conducted HCI research on social agents (i.e. Alexa, Google Home, Siri, etc.) in homes, worked closely with 12+ startups as an intern at gener8tor, a nationally-ranked startup accelerator, and led UI/UX design at multiple startups. Last summer I became a UX Intern at Mastercard. I spend most of my extra time exploring creative applications of technology and design while trying to make the world a better place.

I'm passionate about

Stimulating creativity in youth, ethical development of technologies, equal opportunities and accessibility in education.

An idea worth spreading

Complex and often invisible influences (i.e. intention, culture, etc.) highly affect character. Context changes perspective, and there is often more context than we realize.

The TED story

Watching TED Talks became part of the recovery process during a sad part of my life in middle/high school. TED became a tremendous source of inspiration and avenue to finding meaning and purpose. To this day, I still watch plenty of TED Talks and strongly believe in both TED’s mission and vision to creating change. In high school, I was also able to understand how ideas can propagate through platforms like TED giving a similarly-styled talk to peers and my community in high school. Feedback from peers reinforced how events like these can truly be impactful. That is why I love helping make these events happen and attending them myself whenever I can.
