Bio
I have worked in tech startups for more than 25 years. I am a Principal in Freebright Ventures and Co-Founder of the Collector Part Exchange, as well as an occasional writer, active mentor of entrepreneurs, and competitive cyclist.
I was a Co-Founder of Zapproved, a market-leading software company in legal technology started in Portland in 2008. Zapproved, now a portfolio company of Vista Equity, has earned accolades as one of Oregon’s fastest-growing and most admired companies. Before Zapproved, I worked at Pixelworks, an Oregon-founded semiconductor company where he was a member of Pixelworks’ IPO team in 2000.
I am currently focused on homeless advocacy. I am leading the launch of the Pledge for Portland for businesses to directly support those experiencing homelessness. I am also actively involved with Street Roots and the International Network of Street Papers North America Bureau.
I helped found the Oregon Venture Investment Conference and Tools for Schools now part of Schoolhouse Supplies, and staffed the Oregon Council for Knowledge and Economic Development, now Oregon Innovation Council.
I earned an M.A. in Security Policy Studies from the Eliott School of International Affairs at The George Washington University and a B.A. from the University of Pittsburgh.
