About Poet

Bio
His reflections, writings, and lectures focus on the human spirit and how it dances, fumbles, cartwheels, and drips through this hourglass we call life. He pulls these truths from a reservoir of life experience and anecdotal story-telling that cannot be described, only experienced.
His best asset is, his relatability and connection with ANY audience. Even more profound than how he will move your audience, is the way he engages his talents to simultaneously entertain and teach, making him right at home on the biggest stages in the world. Throughout his career he has been invited to share the stage with celebrities like: One Republic, Christina Milian, Colbie Caillat, Fat Joe, Wyclef Jean, Lil Bow Wo, and Akon. On average he speaks to over 50,000 people a year. Poet has also helped shape the country of Bermuda’s “Chain Reaction” program which addresses issues of teen violence, bullying, safety in schools, and teen suicide.
He has also been the keynote speaker for prestigious conferences such as: The HOBY World Leadership Conference, the ICONIC32 Pop-Culture Summit, and was honored as the only male speaker to ever lecture at the Iranian-American Women Foundation 7th annual International Summit.
Outside of his corporate workshops and seminars, Poet has actively been engaged in social justice and youth intervention for the last 7 years. He has spoken to over 250,000 people in live settings and been an Ambassador for Kindness for many organizations including his own Music and Motivation Tour, Rachel’s Challenge (The largest assembly program in the United States), and Kind Bars (the largest nutritional bar in the world). Poet Ali is best defined as Lodestar. It is the light, he emits and the reflects, which best guides the course of his profound impact on the hearts of his audience.

The TED story
My TED story is an endearing tale of chance and friendship. Some of the best stories are. I first came to be asked to speak in front of audiences many years ago. At the time, I was working multiple jobs in Southern California as a Dance Coach, Second Language Teacher, Musician, DJ, and ran a limo company. During this time I was also taking classes at a local community college, and touring locally behind a Hip Hop project I released. I took classes in beginning French and Italian 2. In my class was a lady named Modjeh. I should like to use her name, because I should like people to make something of this happen stance meeting as it will be relevant later. After finishing these classes, applied for an ambassador position for one of the largest school assembly programs in the United states. It involved traveling heavily and challenged me to take all my time on stage in my various arenas as an entertainer and/or teacher and apply these gifts and others to effectively reach thousands of young adults in a single performance. Fast forward to receiving the position, after a year on the road, my friend from the random Italian class contacts me and asks if I would be interested in preparing a music exhibition for the first TEDx event her and her husband were organizing. I told her I would be honored.
The theme of that conference was "Beautiful Minds" and I shared a poem/song called "Make A Wish" which tapped into a frequency of people's desires, hopes, wishes, dreams, and ultimately begs the question, "What does your construct of happiness include?" The academic audience responded really well to the musical performance, and a year later Modjeh and her husband formally invited me to consider being an official speaker at their TEDx event in Orange County, California. If I'm not mistaken, it was one of the largest organized TEDx events world-wide. I, of course, was honored and accepted
I put my heart into that talk. I looked at it as if I had an opportunity to leave what was most import for me to impart, a common thread that ran through all my work. An underlying theme to my existence; that is what I would like to try and convey with the time I am allotted. It was a beautiful moment to share with those in that theatre. Then a few years later, an incredible thing to share with millions world wide. From there, I spent many years traveling, performing and now being asked to speak with regularity in areas of culture, human connection theory, motivation, relationships, and self confidence, and love. All of my work has these themes infused in it. Now I have been asked by the official TED organizers to present in Edinburgh and couldn't be more excited.
